Community Overview

İSTÜN Computer Engineering Community

We are the students, graduates, and members of the Computer Engineering Department, Istanbul Health and Technology University. The idea for this community was first envisioned by Dr. Nazlı Tokatlı, the founding head of our Computer Engineering Department, who inspired us to create a space for showcasing projects, sharing knowledge, and building connections. Established in 2021, our community has since grown steadily expanding both our project portfolio and our membership while staying true to that founding vision.

IEEE ISTUN Enters the Gaming Industry with an Amazing Game Development Competition! 🚀 🎮

We are excited to announce the first event of our newly established committee within IEEE, the Game and Application Committee!

If you’re interested in participating in this event, which we’ve created by modifying the Gamejam concept, you can indicate your interest by selecting “I want to participate” in the survey below. The general framework and rules of the event are as follows:

✔ This competition will be organized to enable students to learn and improve their game design skills using Unity software. ✔ The competition is open to all university students.

The requirements for participating in the competition are as follows:

  1. Registration dates (start-end): March 12, 2024 – March 31, 2024
  2. The number of members per team should be between 3-5 students.
  3. Each team must fill out this form to register for the competition.
  4. Each team will provide a weekly progress report to the IEEE Game Committee.
  5. Each team will prepare a final game design document at the end of the game development process. The final game design document will provide detailed answers to the following questions:
    • Target system (whether the game can run on Windows operating systems for computer games or on mobile phones, etc.)
    • b. Development systems (list all the software you used while designing your game, including graphics and sound effects)
    • c. Your game features (targeted users, concept, story, game structure, players, and actions)
    • d. List of instructions for the user to follow to play your game.
    • e. Roles and responsibilities of team members (e.g., Ahmed responsible for graphic design, Mehmet responsible for sound effects, etc.)
    • f. Possible future developments you can make to your game.
    • g. The genre of your game (2D Platform, First person Shooter, Survival Adventure, etc.)
    • h. Average gameplay time

After receiving your final design (a complete game ready to be played and tested by users), a jury of student peers will play the games, examine them based on criteria such as originality, story, engagement, scene design, etc., and evaluate each team’s game. Then, at the end of the competition, the top three teams with the highest scores will be selected as winners and receive their prizes.

We invite all confident game developers to participate in the competition!
